Song #9 "Arise" (Isaiah 60:1-5)

With this blog song “Arise”, I’m actually lecturing myself to get up and get going. It has been a month (4/24) since my last blog entry, partly due to 8 weeks of sickness, but it’s time to rise up!!!

Lyrics:

Arise, shine, for your light has come,

and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you,

For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth

and deep darkness, the people

BUT, the Lord will arise over you,

and His glory will be seen upon you.

The nations shall come to your light,

and kings to the brightness of your rising.

Lift up your eyes all around and see,

they all gather together, they come to you

Your sons shall come from afar.

Your daughters shall be nursed at your side,

then you shall see and become radiant

and your heart shall swell with joy…Arise, shine…

This song “Arise,” the 10th song on Words of Faith and Hope was always meant to inspire and stimulate us to Go, Do the works of Jesus. Or at least arise and go do something.

I think the message is more than that though. In this passage, God is telling us that His light, the “Glory of the Lord” has risen upon us. And more than that, His glory can be seen IN us. That glory will be so attractive that even kings shall be drawn to the glory; your family members will be drawn to this radiance as well.

There is the Rising up, and with this rising, a gathering together, and with this gathering, a radiance will shine through us, and with this radiance, our hearts will be swelling with joy. Sounds good to me!!
