Song #23 Psalm One

Song #23:  (Psalm One)

Psalm One is a NOW word for all of us today. The contrast of how we live has never been more prominent, and choosing the right path has never been more important.

Lyrics:Oh so happy, happy, happy, is the man

that never follows what the godless say,

but he believes that it’s best not to stand in sinner’s ways

nor sit with those who mock and lie all day.

But he finds joy, joy, joy as he studies all the promises

he finds, in God’s word

he thinks about them night and day

and he becomes; oh,oh,oh,oh,oh,oh,oh,oh,oh

Like a great big tree enjoying streams of life

always fruitful, living healthy, never dry

and everything that he does seems to prosper

he finds God’s favor

But he who turns from God, like chaff, gets blown away

he won’t find mercy, he has no place with the saints

but the Lord wants to protect all those who seek Him

but those who don’t can never be, oh,oh,oh…like a great…

The choices we make in life everyday are not just a frivolous game. Who we get advice from, who we like to “follow”, where we hang out, the character of our friends (mostly judging by what comes out of their mouth); these things will determine your present and your future; and if you take an honest look at your past, it has determined that as well.

I had a dream recently of two people who were looking back into their past and into their future.

The first person was one who called God their Father; their past was filled with stories of how God had provided for them, made doors open for opportunities…lots of good testimonies; and their future, even with the uncomfortable feeling of not knowing the details, seemed hopeful.

The second person, who refused to call on God, did not realize that their life was being determined by a different father figure. Their past was littered with trouble and heartache; addictions and failed relationships…ashes…and the future was full of fear and dread for more of the same.

I have found that the lyric, “he finds joy as he studies the promises…”

really is true, and it does lead to “like a great big tree…” The choices are clearer than ever, so…Choose well my friends…

Blessings,

WMG
