“Jeshurun” records the final words of Moses to the children of Israel. It is a “pep talk” to encourage them as they readied themselves to cross from the wilderness into the “Promise land.” It is also a prophetic word to all of us (who are grafted into the vine, Israel) to rise up in powerful intercession on the strength of our triumphant Lord. Jeshurun means, upright, or straight, or righteous.
Lyrics:There is none like the God of Jeshurun who rides the heavens to your help; and through the skies, in His majesty, the eternal God is a dwelling place. Underneath are the everlasting arms.
He will drive out your enemies from before you, and He says, “destroy!”
Then Israel will dwell in safety, the fountain of Jacob alone. In a land of grain and new wine, His heavens will drop down dew.
Blessed are you O Israel, who is like you, a people saved by the Lord.
He is the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty; so your enemies shall be found liars, and you shall tread down their high places. So, call on the Lord, and pour out your hearts. We cry “Abba, Abba, Adonai, Tz va’ot”
Going into life’s battles, conquering, overcoming, ruling and reigning in a new place takes courage. We need courage to go, faith and trust in the one sending you, as well as physical and spiritual preparation…you MUST possess a warrior mindset.
Today, we do not battle against flesh and blood, but principalities and powers, etc. Our preparation and mindset need to be as intentional as Israel’s was.
God had already filled their opponents with fear of them, having shown His might through the plagues in Egypt. It is no different now; Jesus has totally defeated our enemy, and relegated him to using trickery, while giving us His Spirit’s power.
He rides the heavens to help us, and holds us in His hands. He instructs us to go “pull down strongholds” and take the captives away from the enemy; heal the sick, and do what He himself did. As we are conquering and reigning, He is making provision for us with oil and new wine, and safe havens; “preparing a table for us in the presence of our enemies.”
He has given us the sword of His majesty, His Word, and the gifts of His Spirit to tread down the high places of the enemy…and it pleases Him to see us using the tools that He gave us, and doing the things that He did.
So, we cry, “Abba, Abba, Adonai, Tz va’ ot, Abba…!!!”
As you listen to “Jeshurun” remember who you are, and Whose you are…a royal priesthood, a holy nation, children of the most High King,
triumphant intercessors receiving and carrying out orders from the throne room, from the God of Jeshurun.
