#2 - "Faith" (Hebrews 11:1,3,6)

With this blog, I hope to give some background to each song's significance. Each song is based on a scripture promise that God is making to you and me, and these promises can be used by us as tools to navigate various stages of our emotional terrain: sad, hopeful, doubtful, fearful...

Each song is designed to help you remember a promise that you may need, at the time when you need it; so the more you listen to the song, the more of the promise you will retain.

This week’s blog is on one of God’s most important promises. Here are the lyrics to “Faith” which is the 1st song on my “Words of Faith and Hope” CD.

Lyrics:

“Now, Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God,

So that things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

For without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God

must believe that He is; and He is the rewarder of those who fervently seek Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is…”

The bible says that “to everyone is given a measure of faith.” Jesus said,” if you have faith as small as a mustard seed you could move mountains.”

This promise of faith is a God given gift to help us through seemingly impossible circumstances. It’s not enough to just have faith, though, one must exercise their faith. The starting point of exercising faith is to “believe that He/God exists. Once you settle that issue, you can begin asking Him for specific requests according to His will and He will reward you.

What is His will, and how can anyone know His will ?

God left us His last will and testament, The Bible, which contains His promises. Once you get familiar with His “will” it will give Him great delight to answer your requests. The more that you ask, the more that you will experience His answers. This is guaranteed to grow your faith. Keep in mind that His answers may not always be what you anticipate. As you see His faithfulness to converse with you in this way, you will be unable keep your faith from stengthening, and you will find yourself exercising your faith for even tougher situations. A great example of this is the woman, in the Bible, who had been dealing with a blood problem for many years. Her hope was, if she could touch Jesus’ garment, that she would be healed. When she actually did reach out and touch it she was doing a physical act in the seen world but hoping for a miraculous result; God saw her faith, in the spiritual world, and rewarded her with healing. What did Jesus say to her? “Go in peace, your faith has made you well.”

Faith is a great gift from God to all of us. Use it wisely and excercise daily.

Be blessed as you listen to “Faith” which you can find by clicking on the “songs” link on the menu bar of the website: wesmichaelgorospe.com.
