Song #31, Christ In Me (Gal. 2:20, 3:13, 5:1)

Song #31  “Christ Lives in Me”  (Galatians 2:20; 3:13; 5:1)

The greatest revelation one can ever experience in life is “Christ in me, the hope of glory.”

My song, “Christ in Me” has not been recorded yet, but live versions can be heard at the Camarillo Healing Rooms occasionally.

Lyrics:

I am crucified with Christ, it’s no longer I who live

but Christ lives in me, Christ lives in me…

And the life that I now live, in this flesh, I live by faith

Of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me…

Jesus redeemed me from the curse of the law

when He became a curse for me (it’s written)

Cursed is everyone who hangs upon a tree

He has redeemed us, you and me…

So I’ll stand fast…in the liberty…by which Christ…has made me free

and I won’t be caught again as a slave…

The very nature of man is driven by self preservation, so, to submit oneself to identify with Christ’s crucifixion, to be spiritually and emotionally invested in God’s plan, is a pathway that not many have or will choose…but those who do choose to make that exchange (my life for His) will experience life on God’s terms. God always chooses life over death, health over sickness, the miraculous over the mundane. The liberty that is experienced when living “In Christ” cannot be adequately explained in natural terms, but those who have lived and are living “In Christ” will tell of joy unspeakable and full of glory; remarkable provision of substance and instances of impossible doors of opportunity being opened. God’s ways are always laced with grace and mercy beyond our deservedness…but He delights in pouring blessings upon those who choose Him.

Exchanging my life for His allows me to live by His faith, which is way greater than my own. Jesus’ sacrifice also paid for my freedom from being shackled to the past, current, and future curses that would hinder me from true freedom. We can “Stand Fast”, be unmovable, and not be knocked off of the place God has brought us into.

As you meditate on the lyrics of “Christ In Me”, make them personal…make the exchange…your ordinary life for His extraordinary super-natural life.

PS: There are many other biblical truths for you to meditate on in the form of songs on my website: wesmichaelgorospe.com

May you be enriched by living “In Christ”.

Song #30 I Will Bless (Psalm 34:1-4)

Song #30: I Will Bless (Psalm 34: 1-4)

I am reminded of why I started this song blog…It’s the same reason I wrote all these scripture songs…I want you to have scripturepromises handy so that, when life gets hard, you will have certain promises to help bring you through. It has worked for me on numerous occasions…they really do work…!!!

I Will Bless is on my “Life Changing Words” CD, and you can listen at:

wesmichaelgorospe.com

Lyrics:

I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall always be in my mouth. My soul shall make its’ boast in You, Lord, the humble will here of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord and He answered me, and He delivered me from all my fears. Bless the Lord oh my soul…

Blessing the Lord…i.e. praising the Lord, is the fastest way to overcome any fear. Becoming an overcomer, or living a triumphant life of strength and confidence is a pretty universal goal of most, and it falls right into the lap of those who believe. You see, when you praise God in sincerity, from the heart, God actually comes to enthrone Himself in your praises (Psalm 22:3)…in fact, God is actively seeking people who will worship in Spirit and Truth. (John 4:23)

Worship is like a GPS system that God uses to find you when you humble yourself and praise. The coolest part is that when He comes, He brings all of His stuff with Him…provision, healing, wisdom, miracles; all that He IS always travels with Him…”I sought the Lord and He answered me, and He delivered me from all my fears” is a small sample of what He brings when He comes.

So, NOW does it make sense to “Bless the Lord at all times, and let praise always be in your mouth?” If you are serious about wanting the Lord’s presence and His blessings and His deliverance from whatever has you stuck, then start praising and worshipping.

I will help you to do that…just play my songs, and sing along. Pretty soon you will feel the strength of the Lord because you are worshiping AND singing His all powerful word.

Try it…it really will help you become an overcomer in time.

Blessings,

Wes

Song #29 Eye Has Not Seen (1 Corin. 2:9+)

Song #29; Eye Has Not Seen  (1 Corin. 2:9 +)

Lyrics:

Eye has not seen, ear has not heard,

the things You have prepared for those who love You

Your promises are yes, and amen

the gifts You give are never taken back again

the peace You leave surpasses all understanding

This is Your way…Your perfect way…

You said You’d never leave me nor forsake me

if I wait on You, I’d have my strength renewed

You’d walk with me through the valley of the shadow of death

This is Your way…Your perfect way…

You alone are worthy to be praised

You alone are worthy to be praised

for by Your grace we hear and see what You Spirit has decreed

What more can we say but, yes Lord, we believe…

What more can we say but, yes Lord, we believe…

We believe…we believe…we believe…we believe…

In a world that keeps telling us that “seeing is believing” it is becoming increasingly clear that God’s ways and the way of this world are conflicting, in fact, completely opposite of each other.

The world is clinging to what they see as their reality, their compass; but what they see is often a mirage, a creation of their imagination.

God has given us, who dare to believe, all that He has created. We don’t have to conjure up our own images; He reveals to us what has already been created for us, bigger and better than what we could ask or think; and it’s not a mirage, it’s real…although it takes faith to see and experience. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Some would say, aren’t we talking about the same thing here?

No, the difference is the source:

A realm created by a finite and flawed human source…or

The realm created by the infinite, perfect designer of all things, God Himself.

The only question to answer is: Which source are you tapping into?

“Eye Has not Seen” is on my newest CD “Life Changing Words” which you can download from my website: wesmichaelgorospe.com

Song # 28 O Righteous Father John 17:22-26

Song #28:  “O Righteous Father” John 17: 22-26

This song is taken from John 17 on the night of the Last supper, the night He was betrayed. He knew He was going to be taken captive, and yet He prayed this prayer for all of us.

Listen/Download “O Righteous Father” at:

wesmichaelgorospe.com

Lyrics:

O Righteous Father, the world has not known You but I’ve known You, and these have known that You sent Me.

O righteous Father, I have declared to them Your name and will declare it, that Your love may be in them…Ooooooo

Father I desire that those You gave to Me will be with Me where I AM,

That they may see My glory, which You have given to Me, for You’ve loved Me from forever…

I in them, and You in Me, may they be made perfect in one that the world may know You’ve sent Me…

I have loved them as You have loved Me, as You’ve sent Me into this world, I AM sending them…Ooooooo

The glory that You gave Me, I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one…

I in them, and You in Me, may they be made perfect in one that the world may know You’ve sent Me…I have loved them as You have loved Me, as You’ve sent Me into this world, I Am sending them,

And I do love them, as You’ve loved Me, and I do love them as You have loved Me…Oooooooo

The tenderness of Jesus’ petition to Father God on our behalf, especially knowing that He was about to be betrayed, tortured, and hung on the cross, is mind boggling. He knew full well what was in store for Him…He knew the end from the beginning, and yet He chose to intercede for us who would believe. And He intercedes still as He sits at the right hand of The Father. This is true love, agape love, unconditional love. This is the same love that He calls us to display in our lives; to give away as He did to us. His New Commandment “that you love one another as I have loved you,” this is far and away beyond “love your neighbor as yourself.” Most of us cannot love our neighbor because we don’t even love ourselves, so Jesus’ command to love as He loved us means that we first must go to Him to receive His love. Only then can we turn around and give that love, His love, to someone else. He’s the beginning of love, and the vehicle by which love is given…only He could do such a thing, of course, He is God, He is love, and we are the better for it. Are you ready to receive His love, His glory, His oneness with Father and each other?

Be extremely blessed today,

Wes

Song #27 "Greater Is He" (1 John 4:4; Rev. 12:11)

Song #27: “Greater Is He” (1 John 4:4; Rev. 12:11)

This scripture has been one of the most useful tools to me and those I have ministered to over the years. To know that Jesus in me is greater than any outside opposition is not only a huge comfort, but it’s empowering.

The song is on “Life Changing Words”, my latest CD, which you can download at wesmichaelgorospe.com.

Lyrics:

Greater is He that is in me(you) than he that is in the world

We(you) are of God, little children, and we(you) have overcome.

By the blood of the Lamb, and the telling of our stories,

And we loved not our lives unto the death.

Through the cross, we have overcome…

By His blood, we have overcome…

Sometimes in life we find ourselves faced with challenges that seem too big an obstacle to get past. The trial, or test can seem so daunting that it’s almost like it is mocking you, laughing at you. It could be something physical, mental, emotional, financial…it could take many forms, or several forms at once.

Circumstances like these test your faith. It’s in these situations that songs of scripture promises will give you a tangible weapon to fight back against, or through the problem. Countless times, I have recited

“Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world” to myself, and counselled others to do the same. When you recite this over and over, Holy Spirit will attend the Word, and you will begin having confidence in Jesus, who is in you, and He will deliver you from your enemy’s torment. The enemy can only lie to you that you are defeated. The Word of God has real power to overcome, and the songs can help you remember the promises in the Word when you need them most.

Next time you’re facing a giant, speak the Word out loud; let the promises of God surround you, fill you, and pull you through.

It’s for this reason these songs of scripture exist; to help you overcome.

Be Blessed, Wes

Song #26: "Glory to Glory" (2 Corin. 3:17-18)

Song #26:  “Glory to Glory” (2 Corin. 3:17-18)

Lyrics:

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.

Yes the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.

You and you and me with no veil upon our face

can look into a mirror, see the glory of His grace

we’re being changed everyday into His image

From glory to glory, from glory to glory, from glory to glory

by the Spirit of the Lord…

It had been a couple of days since the resurrection; Jesus probably had been seen several times by the disciples and others, but He had not yet ascended to heaven; I'm not sure if He had fully entered into His Glory yet, but I do know that sin, death and hell had been utterly defeated.

The believers were still living in fear, not knowing if they would be next to be punished.

Although Jesus had breathed on them to receive Holy Spirit, they had not yet been fully immersed in the power of the Spirit; to their amazement, that would come in another few weeks, at Pentecost.

Yes, on Pentecost, all heaven broke loose…the Spirit of the Lord came upon those in the upper room, and they entered into a glory realm never before experienced on earth.

Today, we who believe can still enter into that glory realm of the Spirit, and go even deeper into more glory…from glory to glory…

“The Spirit is willing…” are we??

Let’s do this…

“Glory to Glory” can be heard and purchased on my site:

Song #25 "New Creation" (2 Corinthians 5:17,21)

Song #25: “New Creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17,21)

The Easter season is more than the resurrection, although that’s huge; it’s also a time for redemption, renewal, rededication, and rejoicing.

“New Creation” celebrates much of this in a calm, thoughtful way.

You can listen to “New Creation” or any of my songs on my website:

wesmichaelgorospe.com

You can also read any of the previous blogs on the site.

I would appreciate if you would leave a comment or testimony on the site…thanks.

Lyrics:I will worship You my God, I will worship You alone

I will lift up the name of Jesus.

It’s to You my praise I bring, Lord of glory

Mighty God, I worship You… Ooooooooo…

He made Him who knew no sin to become sin for us

That we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

So if anyone is in Christ, you are a new creation

the old things have passed away

and all things have become new.

He died for all, so we who live should not live for ourselves

But for Him, who died for us and conquered death.

It’s to You my praise I bring, Lord of glory

Mighty God, I worship You…

I wrote the introduction, “I will worship You…” many years ago, and this song was the perfect opportunity to use the lyrics. Worship is the perfect lead-in to understanding what Jesus really did for us on resurrection day. The fact that He died for us and rose from the dead is one enormous thing; but that He took all of our sin, past, present, and future, upon Himself is incredible…but God didn’t stop there, He cleaned up our junk first, then He declared that we are “the righteousness of God in Him.” Can He do that; take dirt and make diamonds? Of course He can, and He did…He’s Almighty God…!!!

The operative phrase is “in Him.” In Christ, we are a new creation; not refurbished, NEW.

He does have some expectations of us. With this new life, He would like us to “NOT live for ourselves, but for Him.” How could we not? But He doesn’t even force us to do that; He suggests that we make that choice…our free will to choose is a big deal to Him…hence the worship. His goodness and kindness is so overwhelming, worship is the natural response of an honest heart.

Happy resurrection season to all you redeemed, forgiven, newly created worshipers…let’s all rejoice, I mean really REJOICE…!!!

Song #24 "I AM" (John 11:25-26; 14:6)

Song #24 - “I AM” (John 11:25-26 & 14:6)

Lazarus, a friend of Jesus, had died, and Jesus went to raise him from the dead; but before He did, Jesus said, “I AM the resurrection and the life, he who believes in me shall never die…do you believe this?”

I guess that question is still valid today…do I believe that?

I Am is available on most online outlets as well as my website:

wesmichaelgorospe.com

Lyrics:

I Am the resurrection, I Am the life

he who believes in Me, though he were dead

yet shall he live, yet shall he live.

And he who lives and believes in Me, shall never die…

do you believe this? Do you believe?

I Am the Way, come follow Me

I Am the Truth, believe in Me…I Am

I Am the Life, My Father’s fee

and no one comes to My Father, but through Me…

The question

Do I believe that Jesus is the resurrection and the life…?

Do I believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life…?

The question is NOT asking if you go to church…NOT if you consider yourself a Christian. BUT, are you a believer in Jesus…what He did,

why He came, why He died, did He rise from the dead, is He coming back…are you a believer? Have you accepted His offer of forgiveness for your sins, and everlasting life?

Song #23 Psalm One

Song #23:  Psalm One

Psalm One is a NOW word for all of us today. The contrast of how we live has never been more prominent, and choosing the right path has never been more important.

Lyrics:Oh so happy, happy, happy, is the man

that never follows what the godless say,

but he believes that it’s best not to stand in sinner’s ways

nor sit with those who mock and lie all day.

But he finds joy, joy, joy as he studies all the promises

he finds, in God’s word

he thinks about them night and day

and he becomes; oh,oh,oh,oh,oh,oh,oh,oh,oh

Like a great big tree enjoying streams of life

always fruitful, living healthy, never dry

and everything that he does seems to prosper

he finds God’s favor

But he who turns from God, like chaff, gets blown away

he won’t find mercy, he has no place with the saints

but the Lord wants to protect all those who seek Him

but those who don’t can never be, oh,oh,oh…like a great…

The choices we make in life everyday are not just a frivolous game. Who we get advice from, who we like to “follow”, where we hang out, the character of our friends (mostly judging by what comes out of their mouth); these things will determine your present and your future; and if you take an honest look at your past, it has determined that as well.

I had a dream recently of two people who were looking back into their past and into their future.

The first person was one who called God their Father; their past was filled with stories of how God had provided for them, made doors open for opportunities…lots of good testimonies; and their future, even with the uncomfortable feeling of not knowing the details, seemed hopeful.

The second person, who refused to call on God, did not realize that their life was being determined by a different father figure. Their past was littered with trouble and heartache; addictions and failed relationships…ashes…and the future was full of fear and dread for more of the same.

I have found that the lyric, “he finds joy as he studies the promises…”

really is true, and it does lead to “like a great big tree…” The choices are clearer than ever, so…Choose well my friends…

Blessings,

WMG

Song #22 Abba Father; Lord's Prayer Matt. 6

Song #22:  Abba Father, (Lord’s Prayer)  Matt.6

The Lord’s prayer, “Our Father”, is a prayer most of us learned to recite early in life, but there is so much depth in what Jesus taught us.

You can listen to this song on my (.com) website: wesmichaelgorospe.

By the way, the reason I address  my website in parts is because FB does not send my blog out when the .com is at the end. Go figure…

Lyrics:

Abba Father, You dwell in the heavens

Holy, holy, holy is Your name.

May Your kingdom be established…all across the earth,

And Your will be done here, as in heaven…

Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive our sins, as we forgive the sins of others.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory…

Forever and ever…amen…

1. In the first section of the prayer, Jesus is telling us to start with praise and worship; “Holy…”

2. Next He asks us to acknowlege and to submit to His will and plan.

3. Then to unashamedly ask for what we need…”daily bread”.

4. The forgiveness of our sins, and especially for us to forgive others, is central to, and has the potential to abort everything in God’s plan for us.

5. We rely on Him, the good shepherd, to lead us and protect us from the enemy…although He taught them this prayer BEFORE He gave His life and sent Holy Spirit to empower US with His authority to do this.

6. He ends in praise and acknowlegement of God’s ultimate authority.

Each of these segments can be a separate prayer session by itself, but overall, this is a great outline for our devotionals.

Blessings,

Song #21 If We Confess 1 John 1

Song #21: If We Confess  1 John 1

This is the 5th song on “Words of Life” which you can hear on my website: wesmichaelgorospe.c m

Lyrics:

If we confess our sin,

He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin,

And to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar,

And His word has no place in our Lives

The subject of sin, and the confession of it can make many people very uncomfortable…that’s good.

Let me try to define what sin is and is not;  most think of sin(s) as a list of things that we’ve done wrong: I cuss, I stole, I killed, I…I…

The lists that we all compile are indeed transgressions…committed repeatedly by us who seem to have little self control sometimes.

But, the true definition of sin is “missing the mark.”

Picture an archer who aims at his target, but his arrow misses the target, he “missed the mark.”

God had a perfect plan, a perfect target for all of mankind in the beginning. He planned for us to live with Him forever, in a perfect union and a perfect place. But, man(Adam and Eve) missed the mark…went off script, when they disobeyed God’s simple command…thus sin entered the world, and enters into every one of us at birth…we are born under a curse…BUT,

God provided a way out of the curse when Jesus died and paid the price to reverse the curse, and made a way for us to get back on target.

So, confessing our sin is acknowleging that we have missed the mark. Jesus, by His self sacrifice, then covers the payment for our sin, when we acknowlege Him. Not only did His sacrifice bring forgiveness, but it also wipes away all the unrighteous transgressions also.

Now, He gives us the choice to not believe His story of redemption; thus calling Him a liar by refusing His testimony…yes, you can stay off target if you want…I would not recommend that path.

Blessings,

Song #20; Beth (Psalm 119)

Song #20 “Beth” (Psalm 119)

Here we are in 2019, and our first blog is on song #20 in Psalm 119.

No, Beth is not a person. Psalm 119 is divided into sections; each section headed by a Hebrew letter, and Beth is the 2nd letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

Beth can be found on 2nd CD, Words of Faith and Hope, and can be purchased on my .com website, wesmichaelgorospe.

Lyrics:How can a young man cleanse his way, by taking heed

according to Your Word. With my whole heart I have sought You, Oh let me not wander from Your commandments.

Thy Word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against You.

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes; with my lips I have declared all the judgements of Your mouth.

I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies as much as in all riches.

I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways.

I will delight myself in Your statutes, I will not forget Your Word.

The focus of 2019, so far, is spelled out in “Beth”, as well as Psalm 1:2, “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night.”

“Beth” is describing the longing of one’s heart for God’s Word.

Reading the Word, meditating on the Word, getting the Word inside of your heart, and not just your head, will be one of the keys to a victorious 2019.

The underlying purpose of all of my scripture songs is to give all of YOU a tune to help you get the Word in your heart. It is a scientific fact that singing is THE BEST way to remember things long term. NOT listening to someone sing, but singing it yourself.

Think about how long you’ve known “Mary had a little lamb,” or “Twinkle twinkle little star?” Probably decades…that is the power of singing songs. So…if there is a promise in God’s Word that you want to remember, turn it into a song; that’s what I have done. Please, please, please use my songs to remember His promises to you…

“Peace I leave with you”, “Be anxious for nothing”, “They that wait on the Lord”, “Future and a Hope”, etc.…every song is a powerful promise that you can hide in your heart…just download it to your phone, turn up the volume, and belt it out with me in the car, in the shower, wherever.

Let’s make 2019 an incredibly triumphant year…let’s sing together shall we???

Blessings,

Song #19; "The Counselor" (John14)

Song #19; “The Counselor” (John 14)

We have 3 days left in 2018…’19 is approaching really fast. so I thought song #19 would be a good segway. “The Counselor” can be heard on my website, wesmichaelgorospe.com/songs, and can be found on the Words of Life CD.

This was the song that got me started recording scripture songs.

Here’s the back story:   I had shared “The Counselor” during a class on a Wednesday night at church; nothing out of the ordinary. Fast forward one year; my wife was at a women’s meeting when a woman approached her asking, “aren’t you Wes’ wife?” After my wife affirmed that she was, this woman proceeded to tell her how this song had been sustaining and helping her through some tough situations over the past year. Well, when Lynn got home and shared this testimony, she insisted that I go into the studio and record it…and so the journey began. Now we are sharing these scripture songs together in hopes that some folks will grab hold of the truth of the Word, and use it to triumph over their life’s circumstances. The truth of the Word never changes, but it can change your life forever if you will use it properly.

Lyrics:

“The Counselor, The Holy Spirit, whom The Father will send in My name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of everything I’ve said to you.  Peace, I leave with you, My peace, I give to you, not as the world gives do I give to you, don’t let your heart be troubled, and do not be afraid.”

Jesus promised that when He ascended to heaven, He would send Holy Spirit to come and be our Helper, our teacher, and remind us of what He taught us.

The thought of someone coming alongside of me to help me in any and all situations, to teach me what I need to know to live a successful life, and to be there to remind me of what I was taught has got to be one of the greatest offers ever. The cool thing is that it’s true, and the offer still stands.

2019 is at our doorstep, and there is still an offer on the table for you to have a personal life coach/guidance counselor/study partner/ comforter…and I could go on and on. The question is, will you take the offer seriously?

You can have a very blessed 2019…I pray that you will.

Song #18 "Future and a Hope" (Jeremiah 29)

Song #18:  “Future and a Hope”  (Jeremiah 29)

Here we are in December, just a few weeks from Christmas and a brand new year just around the corner, and brand new start for some. Perhaps it’s time to hit the reset button. Perhaps it’s time to lay down some of the baggage that has weighed you down for too long, and chart a new course…press toward the mark of a higher calling. Maybe it’s time to walk out of the darkness and toward the rising Son.

Listen: “Future and a Hope” is on my “Words of Faith and Hope” CD, which you can hear on my website: wesmichaelgorospe.com/songs.

Lyrics:

“I will visit you and perform My good works in you

and cause you to return to this place.”

“For I know the plans that I have toward you” says the Lord;

“plans of peace, not evil, to give you a future and a hope…

then you will call upon Me, and go and pray to Me,

and I will listen…”

“For I know the thoughts that I have toward you,” says the Lord;

“thoughts of peace, not evil, to give you a future and a hope…

and you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart…”

“I will be found by you,” says the Lord; “and I will bring you back from your captivity, I will gather you from all nations, from all people, I will bring you back.”

“You’ll return to Me…you will return to Me…”

The future that we desire, a future full of joy and hope, is truly ours for the taking. Like the best Christmas present you could ever imagine, it has been bought, paid for in full, and is waiting for you to unwrap at the foot of the tree.

Many of us have wandered far from our hope-filled future, but that has not deterred Him. His jolly Father’s heart is still bursting with expectation of that moment when you will return, receive your gift and live your dream. He has thought out the plan and executed it to the tiniest of details, and now the present awaits at the foot of the tree.

The question is…will you return to the tree, kneel down, and open the gift He bought for you…your future and hope awaits your response.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.

Song #17 Thank You (Matthew 11)

Song #17:    Thank You  (Matt. 11)

Here we are in November, the “Thanksgiving” month; so, I thought I’d share “Thank You” to help get our focus on Him, the one who gives us so much to be thankful for.

This song does not appear on any of my current CD’s, but you can listen to it and watch the video on my website:

wesmichaelgorospe.com

The audio version has several dozen people saying thank you in their native tongue within the song itself. The video (long version) has all of them on video at the end.

I hope you will enjoy the reggae beat…turn it up real loud, and dance around where ever you are…thankfulness should be a fun thing, yes??

Lyrics:    “Thank You”    (sum total of all the lyrics)

I was sitting in church listening to a pastor talk about King David, of Israel, hiring many people to give thanks to God continually; this captured my imagination, and a few day later “Thank You” became a song.

A few years earlier, I was at a business seminar, and the speaker challenged us to try and write down 100 things that you are thankful for. I took the challenge, and that list is in my phone to this day. I often refer to it, and recite the list to myself as a reminder of how much I have to be thankful for.

I want to thank all who read this and listen to my song, and watch my video.

My prayer for you during this Thanksgiving season is that you would take some time to stop and think of things, past, present or future that you can be thankful for. Need a nudge? How about water to drink, or air to breathe; family and friends by name; golf courses are on my list too…haha.

The point is that we all have some things to be thankful for, and making a list might help you someday, should you lose your rose colored glasses.

The scriptures refer, over and over again, to Israel building altars to remember what God did for them…in fact, Passover IS a feast of remembrance of God delivering them from bondage. Psalm 78 is a great example of what happens when we forget the blessings of our past…so, let’s make a concerted effort to remember our blessings, and be thankful for them, big and small.

We are thankful for all of you, Happy Thanksgiving

Song #16 Prayer of Jabez 1 Chronicles 4

Song #16:  “Prayer of Jabez” (1 Chronicles 4)

This is the 6th song on my “Words of Life” CD.

At the time I wrote this song, there was a book written about this prayer, and it really touched my heart powerfully; I hope the truth of this scripture touches you as well.

Lyrics:

“Oh that You would bless me and enlarge my territory, let Your hand be with me and keep me from harm so that I may be free from pain.

And God granted his request.”

From the beginning of the book of 1 Chronicles there are lists of individual’s names by their tribal groupings. The tribes of Simeon, Reuben, Judah, etc.; the families of Israel. Right in the midst of these lists is the story of Jabez, which is told in two short verses, then the lists of names continue on.

As strange as the placement of this story may seem, it shows us a picture of the tenderness of God’s heart toward those who have suffered, and who still call upon Him for help. Jabez was born into pain, but in his pain, he still felt he could call upon God, not just to help him, but to bless him and enlarge his influence. Jabez lived in an era where the physically strong had all the advantages, and those less fortunate got the left overs. But Jabez had cultivated a relationship with God, and God helped him overcome his disadvantages. Jabez prayed: bless me, enlarge my holdings, be with me, relieve my pain. I especially like the last part..”And God granted his request.”

Today, you may feel buried in obscurity, but if you will call upon the Lord, there is no telling what He might do to turn your situation around.

Go ahead…try it…He may just grant your request.

Blessings,

Wes

Song #15 "Bring All the Tithes" (Malachi 3)

Song #15: “Bring All the Tithes” (Malachi 3)

The tithing theme has come up 3-4 times in the last few days, including our pastor mentioning it in church this morning, so, it seems appropriate that this song, “Bring all the Tithes” which is song #4 onmy Words of Life CD, should be the subject of today’s blog. Some have commented that this song has a real Hawaiian feel to it…let me know if you agree.

Lyrics:

Bring…all of the tithes into the storehouse

that there may be food in my house…

come and test Me now, says the Lord of Hosts

if I will not open the windows of heaven…

and pour out to you blessings you won’t have room enough to receive…come and test Me now…won’t you come

I will rebuke the devourer for your sake

he won’t destroy the fruit of your ground

now will your vine lose it’s fruit before its’ time in the field

says The Lord of Hosts…won’t you come and let Me bless you…

I learned the value of tithing very early in my relationship with Jesus, from Pastor Jack at Church on the Way, back in 1971. He said that God is inviting us to challenge/test Him and His principle of giving. In reality, it is the act of “putting God first.” God actually explains the concept again in Matthew 6, about “seeking Him first.”

I have found out by personal experience that God is not kidding about this. We give Him the first 10%, and He blesses the 90% to do more than the original 100%. I know, it’s not logical, but it has worked for me for almost 50 years, and the greatest benefit is the peace and comfort of knowing that God will take care of the smallest details; He has my back. I can tell you story after story of how God has provided in crazy and fun ways…it’s nothing short of miraculous. All of these songs are a by product of His abundant provision. I wish I had time to tell you about the miracle house, the Thanksgiving lunches, or the 7 day motorhome…

The point is, He can be trusted, and I suggest that you take Him up on  that challenge.

Try it, you’ll like it.

Blessings,

Wes

Song #14 - "A New Commandment" (John13)

Song #14 - “A New Commandment” (John 13)

After reading Pastor Steve’s “Secret Place” blog on Jubileechurch.org, I had to write about this song I recorded on my first CD; “Words of Life.” Love one another must become the sound track of our lives individually and corporately.

Lyrics:

A new commandment I give to you,

love one another as I’ve loved you.

That’s how they will know that you follow Me

if you show My love, then My love they’ll see.

I believe…His Word, it is true

The redeemed must say so…

I believe…

that the just live by faith

I believe…

The Lord’s joy is my strength

I believe…

God and me can do all things.

(you’ll love the reggae beat :) listen at: wesmichaelgorospe.com/songs

There is no doubt that the divisions in the world are stark; in fact, Jesus said it would be this way; brother against brother, mother against daughter…it is an symptom of the end of days. This is precisely why love stands out so brilliantly.

When someone chooses love and forgiveness while everyone around him is choosing blame and hate, it is impossible not to notice the contrast.

Pastor Steve said it best, “we love by the experience of being loved by God.” The apostle John said, “God is Love, and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him.”

Dwelling in love, dwelling in God(who IS love), is it possible in today’s worldly mindset? No…

No? No!

If we could do it on our own, don’t you think we’d see a lot more love around? No, love must be conceived in us by a Holy Spirit transaction. I give Him my heart of stone, and He gives me a clean heart, capable of love. He also throws in some sweeteners like a transformed mind, a future and a hope, renewed strength, just to name a few. It’s a pretty good deal for folks like me and you.

So, when He commands us to “love one another”, He also supplies the love…how cool is that?

Blessings,

Wes

Song #13 "Seek Ye First" (Matthew 6)

Song #13: “Seek Ye First” (Matthew 6)

Listen:  wesmichaelgorospe.com/songs; it is the 9th song on my “Words of Life” CD.

Lyrics:Don’t you worry ‘bout the life that you’ll lead

don’t worry ‘bout the food that you’ll eat

take a look at the birds as they fly through the air

they have all that they need in the Father’s care…

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

make sure you seek His Righteousness

and all these things shall be added unto you

If the flowers can dress like a king

without sewing, or doing a thing

why should you worry ‘bout what you should wear

put your life in His hands, in the Father’s care

No man can serve two masters

a two minded man won’t stand

it’s your choice:

to live in the kingdom of God

or perish with the kingdom of man…

I got up this morning at 4am, my mind racing with anxiety. I was being tormented by fear…fear of not being able to control my future as I head into a new phase of life, retirement. As I sat on the edge of the bed and slowly took back control of my thoughts, I remembered how faithful the Lord has been to provide all that we needed over these 48 years of walking with Him. This scripture came to mind, “I have been young, and now I’m older, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor His seed begging bread.” There are so many promises in the Bible to remember, stand on, and receive comfort from. The funny thing is that I have even written songs from many of these promises, including “Seek ye First.”

So, if I, who has experienced God’s faithfulness to His promises, am anxious, how many more people in this world are being tormented by fear of _____ whatever?

This is the very reason why I wrote and recorded these songs, so that when we find ourselves in over our heads in fear and doubt, we might remember His faithfulness to His promises…and sometimes a melody will help us remember.

Seek Him first, put Him first, let Him take the lead, be a follower of Christ. He knows the way into the future because He has already been there and seen it, AND, He IS the Way.

Well, I don’t feel anxious anymore, just thankful to know Him who has promised “to keep that which I have committed to Him.”

Blessings,

Song #12; "Secret Place" (Psalm 91)

Song #12: “Secret Place”  (Psalm 91)

This is the 8th song on my CD; Words of Faith and Hope;  which you can listen to at: wesmichaelgorospe.com/songs

Lyrics:

He who dwells in the secret place of The Most High

shall abide under the shadow of The Almighty.

I will say of The Lord, He is my refuge,

my fortress and my God, in Him will I trust.

He will deliver you from the snare of the trapper,

and from every peril and disease.

He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings

you will find refuge.

A thousand will fall at your side, and 10,000 will fall at your right hand

but it will not come near you…

if you make The Most High your dwelling place…

Psalm 91 has long been one of my favorite passages of scripture, and I will often play this song multiple times when ministering in the healing rooms. It speaks of that “safe space” that God provides for those who choose to go to and abide in. That place of abiding comfort and peace where the chaos and warfare can’t touch you.

Where is that “safe space”, and how do I get there?

It is in Jesus Himself. He said, “come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden…”(Matt. 11:28)

Abiding in Jesus, being attached to the vine, is that healthy place where you will find yourself becoming fruitful, helpful, useful.

A branch does not have to “strive” to be attched to the vine, it just is; and the benefits of being an attached branch means that you are supplied with all the nourishment that you need to bear fruit.

If you’ve found yourself detached, get grafted back in; there’s always room for you if you so desire, and I hope you do.

Blessings,

Song #11; "If My People" 2 Chronicles 7

Blog Song #11: “If My People” (2 Chronicles 7)

Lyrics:

If My people who are called by My name

will humble themselves and pray

and seek My face, turn from their wicked ways

then will I hear from heaven

I will forgive their sins and heal their land.

Now My eyes will be open, and My ears attentive

to prayer made in this place,

for now I have chosen, and set apart this house…

that My name may be there forever,

and My eyes and My heart will be there forever…

“If My People” is on my Words of Faith and Hope CD, and can be heard on my website: wesmichaelgorospe.com/songs.

The God of the whole universe has chosen to allow us to partner with Him in establishing His Kingdom here where we live…if we choose to engage.

Think about this for a second; He says “if MY people…” He calls us His people…and that we are called by His name…we have HIS name!!

All we have to do is humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn to Him, and stop missing the mark, and when we do miss, repent.

The grace that He extends to us, and the opportunity to be involved in His plans for all of eternity, it’s almost beyond comprehension.

He’s in the process of building, constructing, creating a perfect kingdom, and He is inviting us to participate; (with those few conditions.)

He is watching; He is listening…He is waiting for our response to His invitation…Will you be one of those who chooses to engage?

IF My people…

Wes

Song #10; "Be Anxious for Nothing" - Phil. 4:

Song #10: “Be Anxious for Nothing”  (Phil.4)

This song is on my “Words of Life” CD, which you can listen to at:

www.wesmichaelgorospe.com/songs. It is song #7 on the list.

Lyrics:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God that passes all understanding will keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

Whatever is true, honest and just; whatever is pure, lovely and of good report; if the be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:6-8)

With a world that seems to be flying sideways, and a news media that refuses to report truth without bias, it is easy to just give in to the noise and join the chorus of those who seem to have lost their sense of decency.

But we are called to a higher purpose, a higher calling to be salt in the earth. Salt can savor (make tasty), but salt can also sting when rubbed into a wound to cleanse it. When I was growing up in Hawaii, anytime I got a cut, I would go down to the beach, jump in the ocean, and let the salt water cleanse the wound, but it would really hurt at first.

God’s solution for us is that we rely upon Him…the constant theme of our lives. We are encouraged to not be anxious or worried about anything, but instead, to bring  every request to Him in an attitude of humility and thanksgiving. Easier said than done.

He gives us the guidelines to think of things that are good, true, honest, just, etc. If we strive for what is good, and what lifts up rather than tears down, we can have true peace of mind and heart…and isn’t that what we all really want, peace? Think on these things!

Blessings,

Wes

Song #9 "Arise" ; Isaiah 60

Song #9: “ARISE” (Isaiah 60)

With this blog song “Arise”, I’m actually lecturing myself to get up and get going. It has been a month (4/24) since my last blog entry, partly due to 8 weeks of sickness, but it’s time to rise up!!!

Lyrics:

Arise, shine, for your light has come,

and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you,

For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth

and deep darkness, the people

BUT, the Lord will arise over you,

and His glory will be seen upon you.

The nations shall come to your light,

and kings to the brightness of your rising.

Lift up your eyes all around and see,

they all gather together, they come to you

Your sons shall come from afar.

Your daughters shall be nursed at your side,

then you shall see and become radiant

and your heart shall swell with joy…Arise, shine…

This song “Arise,” the 10th song on Words of Faith and Hope was always meant to inspire and stimulate us to Go, Do the works of Jesus. Or at least arise and go do something.

I think the message is more than that though. In this passage, God is telling us that His light, the “Glory of the Lord” has risen upon us. And more than that, His glory can be seen IN us. That glory will be so attractive that even kings shall be drawn to the glory; your family members will be drawn to this radiance as well.

There is the Rising up, and with this rising, a gathering together, and with this gathering, a radiance will shine through us, and with this radiance, our hearts will be swelling with joy. Sounds good to me!!

Song #8 "Wait"; Isaiah 40

Song #8: “Wait” (Isaiah 40)

“They that wait…” is so appropriate for a lot of us these days; I’m waiting for my voice to come back so that I can resume recording and ministry. One of my close friends is waiting for his heart to “normalize,” and yet another friend is waiting to know whether or not he will be able to move forward with his plans. “Wait” is from my CD

Words of Faith and Hope: listen at: wesmichaelgorospe.com.

Lyrics:

“Have you not known, have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, Creator of the ends of the earth neither faints nor is weary.

They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

His understanding is unsearchable, He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength. Even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but to those who have no might, He increases strength…”

I have always thought about the word “wait” as me hanging around, hoping that someone would show up, but in my meditation on this verse, I began thinking a different thought…”they that WAIT on the Lord…” what if it meant waiting on the Lord as a server would wait on a table? The passage could then read, “they that watch diligently for a sign from the one on whom they are waiting, will find strength and inspiration as they concentrate on how they might respond to the Lord’s beckoning them to His side for the next instruction…” “Waiting” then becomes active rather than passive.

“To Wait” becomes an attitude of providing excellent service to The Master, rather than waiting with an impatient and entitlement mind set.

If we are servant “Waiters” we can rest in the assurance that we are living in this moment, and not one that we may be imagining might happen sometime. I’m not saying that we shouldn’t have Hope for the future, I’m just saying that MAYBE in this moment your thinking on “WAITING” might benefit from a little tweeking, a little mindset shift…think about it.

Blessing you as I wait,

Wes

Song #7: "God Is Able" Jude 24, Eph. 3

Blog Song #7: “God Is Able”, (Jude 24, Eph. 3)

Lyrics:  “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy…to God our savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power both now and forever, amen…

God is Able, our God is able…

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us…to God our savior…God is Able, our God is able…”

(song #4 on “Words of Faith and Hope”)

This song is so appropriate for me right now. I am trusting in God’s ablity to bring me out of afflictions and trials, and He is working His exceeding abundant power in me to bring me to a place of rest in Him. I don’t have to strive to be in His Shalom, I just need to accept that He has finished the work and has provided that resting place for me. An old song used to call it “leaning on the everlasting arms.”

To truly believe that God’s Word is true is to believe that He is Able to do what He has promised…to keep me from stumbling, to present me faultless before His presence, to work in me His exceedingly abundant saving grace.

This is an important message that He is trying to get us to believe and receive, that He really IS ABLE to keep us.

May you find yourself seeking and abiding in His ability to keep you, and may you find rest in His great love.

Blessings,

Wes

Song #6 - "My Grace" 2 Cor. 12

Blog Song #6: “My Grace” (2 Cor. 12)

Well, it’s been a month since my last blog entry; delayed mostly due to illness in one form or another…but here we are, so, here we go.

Lyrics:

“I will gladly boast of my weakness that the power of God may rest on me. For the sake of Christ, I will delight in weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and calamities, for when I’m weak, then I’m strong.

My Grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (from Words of Life)

Although it is written and recorded as “My Grace,” I have been singing

“Your Grace is sufficient for me.” More of a prayer than a declaration; the cry of my heart acknowledging that it is His Grace that I need, and His Grace and faithfulness that will see me through the hardships that I will face in this life; all of us will face.

Disease and sickness remind us that no matter how good things can be on this planet, in this life, we are still in the process of dying until that glorious day when death will be “No More, and we shall be like Him.”

The other day, while curled up on my favorite chair and draped in a blanket, I watched a nature show about animals fighting for dominance. The thought crossed my mind, “all of this fighting to show yourself strong is just a symptom of how far away from God’s kingdom we’ve fallen.” Until the day that all of God’s and our enemies are put into submission, we His children, must live with the intention of loving one another as He commanded us. There is only one way this will be accomplished, by His Grace. “Your Grace is sufficient for me, for Your power is made perfect in weakness.”

Blessings,

Song #5 - "Trust" (Proverbs 3)

Blog Song #5:  “Trust”  (Proverbs 3)

“Trust” is the 2nd song on my CD “Words of Faith and Hope” which you can listen to at: wesmichaelgorospe.com

Lyrics:  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowlege Him and He shall direct your path.

Don’t be wise in your own eyes, but fear the Lord, and run from evil. It will be health unto your flesh, and strength unto you bones…Trust in the Lord!

Honor the Lord with your posessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.”

Trust issues are a “thing” these days. Trust needs to be earned and preserved like a precious jewel. Once trust is lost, it is very difficult to regain.

When it comes to trusting in the Lord, it usually starts out blindly by faith.  God does not need us to trust Him; He’s God, He doesn’t need anything, but He wants us to trust Him so that we can experience more of who He is. Like a loving father, He wants to show us how to do things so that we are prepared for our future…reigning with Him.

I have discovered that when you trust in the Lord, the more you WANT to trust in the Lord because it is so cool how He does things. The blind faith aspect never goes away, but the longer you’ve been trusting Him, the more you can look back and see how trust equals blessing.  When practicing trust, you learn to distinguish when He is asking you to take a step of faith, and you become more responsive to His call.

One Thanksgiving Day we made a bunch of sack lunches and headed out looking for people to give them to. We felt the Lord leading us up a certain street and we drove to the front of an apartment building, stopped, and my wife got out with 2 lunches. A smiling lady came out and said thank you for bringing the lunches. She had been praying that morning for the Lord to provide her with something to serve her friend that was coming over. We had no idea who she was or what she needed, but she was trusting God to provide for her, and we were trusting God to lead us to whomever needed the lunches…so all of us were extremely blessed.

Trust always involves risk, but it’s worth it when you are placing that trust in God. He has earned our trust, and He will never violate it. The more you trust, the more blessed you will be…He can be trusted.

Blessings,

Wes

Blog Song #4; Jeshurun, Deuteronomy 33

Blog Song #4: “Jeshurun” (Deuteronomy 33)

I hope that these blogs help you gain more understanding of how the scripture can strengthen your walk with God.

“Jeshurun” records the final words of Moses to the children of Israel. It is a “pep talk” to encourage them as they readied themselves to cross from the wilderness into the “Promise land.” It is also a prophetic word to all of us (who are grafted into the vine, Israel) to rise up in powerful intercession on the strength of our triumphant Lord. Jeshurun means, upright, or straight, or righteous.

Lyrics:There is none like the God of Jeshurun who rides the heavens to your help; and through the skies, in His majesty, the eternal God is a dwelling place. Underneath are the everlasting arms.

He will drive out your enemies from before you, and He says, “destroy!”

Then Israel will dwell in safety, the fountain of Jacob alone.  In a land of grain and new wine, His heavens will drop down dew.

Blessed are you O Israel, who is like you, a people saved by the Lord.

He is the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty; so your enemies shall be found liars, and you shall tread down their high places. So, call on the Lord, and pour out your hearts. We cry “Abba, Abba, Adonai, Tz va’ot”

Going into life’s battles, conquering, overcoming, ruling and reigning in a new place takes courage. We need courage to go, faith and trust in the one sending you, as well as physical and spiritual preparation…you MUST possess a warrior mindset.

Today, we do not battle against flesh and blood, but principalities and powers, etc. Our preparation and mindset need to be as intentional as Israel’s was.

God had already filled their opponents with fear of them, having shown His might through the plagues in Egypt. It is no different now; Jesus has totally defeated our enemy, and relegated him to using trickery, while giving us His Spirit’s power.

He rides the heavens to help us, and holds us in His hands. He instructs us to go “pull down strongholds” and take the captives away from the enemy; heal the sick, and do what He himself did. As we are conquering and reigning, He is making provision for us with oil and new wine, and safe havens; “preparing a table for us in the presence of our enemies.”

He has given us the sword of His majesty, His Word, and the gifts of His Spirit to tread down the high places of the enemy…and it pleases Him to see us using the tools that He gave us, and doing the things that He did.

So, we cry, “Abba, Abba, Adonai, Tz va’ ot, Abba…!!!”

As you listen to “Jeshurun” remember who you are, and Whose you are…a royal priesthood, a holy nation, children of the most High King,

triumphant intercessors receiving and carrying out orders from the throne room, from the God of Jeshurun.

Be blessed,

You can listen to Jeshurun at: wesmichaelgorospe.com

It is the 9th song on “Words of Faith and Hope”

I would love to read your comments; you can leave them on the website or send me an email: wes@wesmichaelgorospe.com

Song #3 - How Great is the Love

Song #3: “How Great is The Love” (1John 3, and Revelation 21)

Lyrics:“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us

that we should be called the children of God.

The reason the world does not know us is that it did not

know Him. Dear friends now we are the children of God,

and what we shall be has not been revealed, but we know

that when He appears we shall be like Him, for we shall see

 Him as He is.

Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty…

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, “behold the

tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them

and they shall be His people and God Himself shall be with

them and be their God.” And God shall wipe away all tears

from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither

sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain; for

the former things are passed away. And He that sat upon

the throne said, ”Behold, I make all things new.”

This is the 10th song on the “Words of Life” cd; which you can listen

to in the “songs” section of my website: wesmichaelgorospe.com

This truth of how much God cares for us and how He wishes to

“lavish” His love upon us, His children, is a desperately needed message for us today. It gets lost in the shuffle of our busyness and

quest to “serve” Him. This scripture reminds us that God, our Father,

is deeply committed to an intimate relationship with us and is transforming us into His image (from Glory to Glory) so that when He appears “we shall be like Him.” This process is accelerated as we spend time with Him in His presence. The more time we spend with Him, the more like Him we become; not by anything that we accomplish, but just because of who He is: the Way, the Truth, the Life.  As a result of our becoming more like Him, we can’t help but revel in His presence as the angels do, bowing to His Holiness.

I love that He reminds us that the trials of this world are NOT forever, and that all our sorrows and pains will “Pass away” when He makes all things new.

As you listen to this song, drink in the love of the Father, and imagine yourself in the throne room with the angels singing Holy, Holy, Holy.

Remember that your trials are temporary, but His love is permanent.

Blessings,   Wes

#2 - Faith

Song #2: “Faith” (Hebrews 11)

With this blog, I hope to give some background to each song's significance. Each song is based on a scripture promise that God is making to you and me, and these promises can be used by us as tools to navigate various stages of our emotional terrain: sad, hopeful, doubtful, fearful...

Each song is designed to help you remember a promise that you may need, at the time when you need it; so the more you listen to the song, the more of the promise you will retain.

This week’s blog is on one of God’s most important promises. Here are the lyrics to “Faith” which is the 1st song on my “Words of Faith and Hope” CD.

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God,

So that things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

For without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God

must believe that He is; and He is the rewarder of those who fervently seek Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is…”

The bible says that “to everyone is given a measure of faith.” Jesus said,” if you have faith as small as a mustard seed you could move mountains.”

This promise of faith is a God given gift to help us through seemingly impossible circumstances. It’s not enough to just have faith, though, one must exercise their faith. The starting point of exercising faith is to “believe that He/God exists. Once you settle that issue, you can begin asking Him for specific requests according to His will and He will reward you.

What is His will, and how can anyone know His will ?

God left us His last will and testament, The Bible, which contains His promises. Once you get familiar with His “will” it will give Him great delight to answer your requests. The more that you ask, the more that you will experience His answers. This is guaranteed to grow your faith. Keep in mind that His answers may not always be what you anticipate. As you see His faithfulness to converse with you in this way, you will be unable keep your faith from stengthening, and you will find yourself exercising your faith for even tougher situations. A great example of this is the woman, in the Bible, who had been dealing with a blood problem for many years. Her hope was, if she could touch Jesus’ garment, that she would be healed. When she actually did reach out and touch it she was doing a physical act in the seen world but hoping for a miraculous result; God saw her faith, in the spiritual world, and rewarded her with healing. What did Jesus say to her? “Go in peace, your faith has made you well.”

Faith is a great gift from God to all of us. Use it wisely and excercise daily.

#1 - Power, Love, and a sound mind

With this blog, I hope to give some background to each song's significance. Each song is based on a scripture promise that God is making to you and me, and these promises can be used by us as tools to navigate various stages of our emotional terrain: sad, hopeful, doubtful, fearful...

Each song is designed to help you remember a promise that you may need, at the time when you need it; so the more you listen to the song, the more of the promise you will retain.

This week, we'll start with: #1 - "Spirit of Power and Love," from my "Words of Life" CD.

The lyrics are: "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power and love, and a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)

I wrote this song out of a sense of desperation. I found this scripture, and it gave me the comfort and balance that I needed to get through my trial.

Whenever you find yourself feeling fearful for any reason, or doubting your ability to think clearly, you can speak this scripture to yourself...and if you don't feel like you have God's Spirit of power and love, you can just ask Him to give it to you, and He will. It's really that simple; say, "God, please give me Your Spirit of power and love, and a sound mind." Being irrational, fearful, and feeling unloved, are real emotions that can paralyze you and make you feel stuck. But God has given you a way out - hold onto this promise, and make it your own. When those negative thoughts arise, say the promise out loud and you will be amazed at how effective it is.

God has NOT given you a spirit of fear, but He has His Spirit of power and love and a sound mind available for you; just ask, then receive.

Be blessed as you listen to "Spirit of Power and Love." You will be able to find it under the "Songs" link at the top of this website.

Blessings,

Wes
